How long has Sounds Abound Entertainment been in business?

The company was founded in 1990 and has established itself as a go-to vendor for your full-service DJ needs both in the Chicagoland suburbs and Chicagoland metro area.

What makes Sounds Abound different from the other DJ companies?

It starts with the planning process where the entertainment directors are there with you every step of the way to answer any questions you may have. They are experienced in handling all type of events and are familiar with venue logistics to ensure you have thought of everything. Why are the Sounds Abound DJs also referred to as MCs?

The DJs at Sound Abound Entertainment will not only play your music, they will also serve as your masters of ceremonies. They are all experienced both in music selection and public speaking. They will handle coordinating your event; making the annoucments, keeping your guests informed, and ensuring your event flows seamlessly while you and your guest have a wonderful time.

Do the Sounds Abound DJs interact with the crowd?

This is entirely up to you and your preference. All of our DJs are fully capable of infusing your event with energy and enthusiasm, whether they interact with your guests or not. You decide how much or how little you would like your DJ to interact.

Do we get to pick our DJ?

This is another Sounds Abound difference from some of the other DJ companies. With our premium packages listed on our website, you will be able to select your DJ/MC from the ones available for your date. We encourage you to review Choose Your MC / DJ where you can read a bio, check out testimonials from our clients, and watch a video of the DJ/MC in action. If you are having trouble deciding who your DJ/MC should be, your entertainment director can help you narrow your choices down based on your music preferences and vision for your event.

Do you provide back-up equipment? What about back-up DJs?

Yes, and yes! In cases of emergencies where equipment fails or needs to be replaced, our team is ready to step into action and replace those items as soon as possible. In the rare case of an emergency that affects your DJ/MC, we also would step into an action to have our back-up DJ/MC step into place immediately.

What kind of equpiment do your DJs use?

Sounds Abound DJs will all use professional equipment for your event. Each DJ’s system varies slightly according to their personal preference. Some of the brands we endorse are: Shure, Electro Voice, Pioneer, Serato, Virtual DJ and Chauvet.

FAQ: About our Customer Service

What is Sounds Abound belief on customer service?

We know that planning a wedding or any other big event requires hours and hours of preparation and can be stressful at time. Our focus is to make planning your entertainment as smooth and easy as possible.  Our team of event directors will be there to answer your questions promptly and keep you informed of next steps to ensure you are on schedule. We believe the highest level of customer service is being responsive, being attentive, and having a willing attitute to deliver an amazing event.

Does Sound Abound have an online planner?

Absolutely! Our Online Event Planner is an internet tool that allows you to input the important details of your event into a digital worksheet for your DJ/MC to reference. In addition, you will have access to our online music library to choose the songs you would like to hear and the songs you do not.

Is there a deposit to secure a DJ/MC? What about the balance?

A $200 deposit is required upon booking in order to hold the date of your event. The balance of your account is due two weeks prior to the event date. All major credit cards are accepted and payments are made through the online planner.

Are there any other fees?

Our packages are all-inclusive with no sales tax or hidden extra fees however events in the Chicago metro area may require a $200 travel and or set up fee. Events outside of the Chicago metro area will be charged a travel and or setup fee on a per location basis. Lastly, events taking place on a national holiday or on holiday weekend may also see an additional charge. All extra fees will be clearly communicated and listed on your contract. 

FAQ: About Your Event

Will we talk with our DJ/MC before our event?

Of course! Your DJ/MC will typically reach out to you closer to your event date as your details are finalized, the online worksheet is completed, and once you have picked out your music. During this contact, they will review all of your  important details and seek to understand the vibe and vision for your event.

However, please feel free to reach out to the  Sounds Abound office with any questions or concerns at any time. Your event directors are always available to assist. 

Do we need to pick all our music?

Of course not.  Feel free to choose as many songs as you like but if you are just looking for a vibe or feel, our entertainment directors and DJ/MCs can take care of you.

When will you DJ/MC arrive?

Your DJ/MC will arrive 60 to 90 minutes before your contracted event start time with us.

What should we tell the venue to provide for our DJ if asked?

One six-foot table with linen that will be located in proximity to the dance floor with a nearby electrical power source. For outdoor events, your DJ will require some type of overhead protection (tent, awning, canopy, etc) in addition to a power source nearyby.

What will our DJ wear?

Your DJ/MC will be dressed professional for your event. In a formal setting, your DJ/MC will be in a suit to be consistent with your guests. In an informal setting, your DJ/MC will be dressed accordingly.

Should we serve dinner to our DJ?

This is entirely up to you as we do not require a meal for your Sounds Abound DJ/MC or the team at your event.

Is it appropriate to tip the DJ?

Gratuities are greatly appreciated and every DJ/MC will welcome an acknowledgment of their service.
