Geoff Rafferty

We hired Geoff Rafferty to DJ our wedding and he was a hit with all of our guests, aged 16 to 85! Starting off with the cocktail music, it set the perfect vibe for our reception. Introductions were AMAZING, our wedding party had so much fun walking out. We have A LOT of tough names to pronounce in our family and friend group and Geoff nailed all of the pronunciations, which was incredibly important to us. Especially with the last name Gettinger! The music played throughout dinner was very tasteful, perfect volume for us to go and chat with our guests. Geoff, checked in with us at every point to make sure we were ready to move into each item. Once we had finished our traditional dances, our family was ready to party!! We had people on the dance floor the ENTIRE time!! Geoff did such an amazing job, and we look forward to passing along his contact information to our friends for their weddings!

From the moment we met Geoff from Sounds Abound, we knew we were in good hands. His passion for music and his ability to read a crowd were evident from the start. He was incredibly easy to work with and took the time to understand our vision for our wedding. On the night of our wedding, Geoff exceeded our expectations. He kept the dance floor packed all night long with an eclectic mix of music that appealed to all of our guests. He was also a master of timing, seamlessly transitioning from one song to the next without missing a beat. In addition to his DJ skills, Geoff was also an excellent host. He had a warm and engaging personality that made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. He even helped us to orchestrate our wedding party entrance, first dance, and dances with parents. We also rented the digital Photo Booth from Sounds Abound, and it was a huge hit with our guests. The booth was equipped with a ring light, which produced stunning photos. It also allowed guests to take GIFs and boomerangs, which were a lot of fun. Tony Ho, who designed our photo booth template, did an amazing job. He incorporated the design from our wedding invitations, which made the photo strips feel even more personal. We couldn’t be happier with the service we received from Sounds Abound. Geoff and Tony were both professional, talented, and easy to work with. They truly made our wedding dreams come true.

We’re so glad that we chose Sounds Abound/Geoff to be our DJ! From the booking to the night of the wedding they/he was so great to work with. I loved using the portal to add our preferrences and do not play songs too. Geoff stuck to those playlists and played great music during our reception. He was also super organized and friendly. Geoff was the best DJ we could have asked for at our wedding! It was also a pleasure working with the entire Sounds Abound staff throughout the wedding planning process (Nicole N., Tony H.). They were very friendly, organized, and they helped me customize our photo print outs to match the theme of our wedding. They turned out great! Our photobooth attendant Joe was great and we got SO many comments about the how awesome our DJ was. He did a great Job explaining any instructions necessary throughout the night and picked the best songs and transitions. Highly recommend Geoff if you’re looking for a DJ and we loved working with Sounds Abound.

We had the pleasure of Geoff being our DJ and MC for our wedding. He had done another wedding we attended, so it was an easy choice from the start! Prior to our wedding day, we had a request of a mash-up for the father/daughter dance. Tony Ho delivered the perfect combination of songs to meet our needs and ensured our day-of DJ had the track ready to play. On our wedding day, Geoff was cool and calm, yet kept our timing on track. Many of our guests told us that he did a great job keeping the party alive. He took everything we requested of him and made it a reality on our dance floor. We would strongly recommend Sounds Abound and DJ Geoff to anyone who wants their wedding to be a real party!

Our experience with Sounds Abound was fantastic! Their online form is very extensive and helpful to plan out everything needed for our special day regarding the music, and Geoff, our DJ, did a great job MCing the day, helping everything flow smoothly, and incorporating all of our requested music into our ceremony and reception.

Sounds Abound came highly recommended by my wedding planner and it was easy to see why. From the beginning, the owner was extremely helpful in getting our date booked and selecting a DJ for the day of our wedding. Their online system was such a life saver in terms of layout of the evening (ceremony music, first dance, entrances, etc) to helping find all the amazing music you could imagine for your reception. My now husband felt that people ”just don’t dance at weddings anymore” and was concerned, however, Geoff kept the energy up all night long. We had constant movement on the dance floor for a night we will forever cherish.

We cannot say thank you enough for being our wedding reception DJ! You did an INCREDIBLE job and kept the dance floor packed the entire night! We are so thankful we chose you as our DJ! And we were so happy you were able to accommodate our request to play “Tank” from Cowboy Bebop as our bridal party entered the reception! We will always remember dancing the night away until the bitter end! Thank you for all that you do – it is such a talent.

We cannot say enough positive things about Sounds Abound and Geoff specifically! They were great at communication, tool was easy to use, and overall amazing to work with. we didn’t have to worry about anything. Geoff was our DJ and he absolutely crushed it. As soon as the music started everyone was on the dance floor. People did not leave it all night, and people all keep telling us how fun it was and how great the music was. He did a perfect mix of oldies/new music, and all ages were out there all night. AND we threw 2 new things in right before we needed them during the speeches and the introductions and he had it down perfectly. Also a big shout out to Vince who handled the photo booth people loved it!! We cannot say enough about them, would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!!!!

We had Geoff for our wedding this last couple weeks at the Bolingbrook golf club and he knocked it out of the park. Had a couple hidden surprises in the day for the guests and he did a great job really personalizing the event.

We hired DJ Geoff and he was fantastic!! They provided sound equipment for our ceremony and then did our cocktail hour and reception. Every step was smooth as can be from booking through the day of We received so many compliments on the music and the photo booth was a huge hit. 10/10 would recommend!

Sounds Abound was awesome and the best to work with! The online portal was easy to use and helped us to arrange all the music for the entire event. Our DJ Geoff was awesome to plan with and felt like he understood what type of music we would like as a couple. He orchestrated the entire night perfectly! We got many compliments from our guests.

We wanted to send a thank you for spending your day with us and allowing us to have the BEST day ever. I know your set up started early in the afternoon, and your efforts did not stop until the end! I admit, I was a bit taken aback by the sudden risk of rain (when it wasn’t predicted all weekend or during the day!). I KNOW you worked with our coordinator and David, the officiant, to make the sound system outside work. It ended up being the most perfect ceremony, thank you. The intros and speeches went off without a hitch! (even my mother who gave the most on-par speech for her). Thank you for making our mother daughter dance exactly what I had envisioned. Finally, the dance floor! It is always my favorite part of weddings, and you helped our guests of all ages have something to dance to. There are so many great memories I have of the dance floor, from Elton John to seeing all my silly girlfriends sing along to Celine Dion. Neighbors said goodbye to me and then I see them dancing 15 minutes later, saying they couldn’t leave yet because they had to dance to “play that funky music”. Also the Schumacher aunts ( health issues/ walkers and all!) got up on the dance floor. Ryans aunt said it was the first time she has seen her husband dance in so many years. Can’t forget my 96 year old great Aunt dancing in her chair as well.

Geoffrey was a terrific DJ. He played the music we requested and even played requests by our guests. I have heard of other vendors not taking requests, so I was glad when Sounds Abound does that. Geoffrey also played songs in a certain order that my husband specifically requested.

Geoffrey also gave us a bit longer between dinner and the first dance so we could finish our meal since we walked around to thank everyone for coming during the dinner part of the reception.

We had a live performance, or our first song and Geoffrey was accommodating for that special time.

We had a special song request for my father-in-law that everyone stopped to watch him and my husband dance. It was one of the highlights of the night.

We had such a great experience with Sounds Abound. Geoff was our DJ and was so amazing. Our dance floor was packed all night and everyone commented on how great the music and dancing was. I would highly recommend Sounds Abound and Geoff!
