Sounds Abound was the very best choice for DJ needs for our wedding. Rufus was a true gentlemen and a party starter all at the same time. He’s got a great vibe for just the right music for all parts of the wedding. Slow music, the dance-able and everything in between. We used Sounds Abound for our MC/DJ, Photo booth and Uplighting- and they did a fantastic job with all three. The venue looked amazing with the very professional and elegant looking uplighting. The photo booth was so much fun and the attendant made sure everyone had a good time taking the silly photos. But the best service provided by Sounds Abound was the DJ. We chose Rufus for our MC and he was amazing. My husband and I have very different tastes in music, and had an extremely mixed crowd at the wedding. Somehow, Rufus kept the dance floor full all night and managed to make everyone happy. Our guests mentioned that they have never seen so many people dancing and having fun at a wedding before and we have Rufus to thank. He made sure the night went smoothly, and choreographed the whole event to perfection!

Sounds Abound always responded to questions immediately and never left me hanging. They have a wedding planning portal that allows you to put all the details to your wedding down and request songs you want to MUST play and rate other songs you like, which gives the DJ a good idea about what kind of music you want to hear. We chose the option to have an MC and assistant DJ, which I would highly recommend. The night ran smoothly and I didn’t have to worry about the order of events because they had everything taken care of. Rufus was my MC and he had everyone on the dance floor the whole night! After my wedding, people kept telling me they haven’t danced that much in years! One friend even told me she danced so much she was sore for over a week! Now that made me smile because everyone was enjoying themselves on the dance floor, aged 2 to 70!!!! I highly recommend Sounds Abound and Rufus if you want an eclectic mix of music and night of fun with no worries!

Rufus Cathey was our DJ for our wedding reception. He was a great DJ and MC for the night — the dance floor was packed the entire night, and people were still dancing when the lights came on. We have received so many compliments on our wedding reception and how much fun people people had dancing. Sounds Abound was amazing! We could not have asked for a better company. Rufus was our D.J and he was spectacular! He was always available to answer questions and give suggestions. He contacted us the week before to make sure we had everything nailed down. We went over the music selection on the online planner (which is an awesome tool). The night of the wedding was smooth and flowed beautifully, before our introductions he even came up to us again to make sure he add all name pronunciations right! We weren’t sure about music for the night, and left it up completely up the DJ. His transitions were smooth and the dance floor was packed all night! We also rented the Sounds Abound photobooth. They came with so many fun props. Sounds Abound is all about making their clients happy and they went above and behind!

We had Rufus as our DJ at our wedding, and he was AMAZING. Everyone had a blast and he did a great job of capturing the audience and keeping them on the dance floor. As the bride, I didn’t even want to leave the dance floor as well. After the wedding, numerous people contacted us to tell us how awesome Rufus was and how it was the best wedding they have ever been to. We had Rufus as our DJ at Venuti’s in Addison. He was so polite and all around fun that our guests are still raving about what a great time they had! They were even “table-dancing” during dinner! We wouldn’t have had such an amazing event if we wouldn’t have gone with Sounds Abound and Rufus specifically! After 2 pre-wedding meetings, Rufus really came through and made our wedding a total success. We had some unique requests for cocktail hour and dinner music, and he seamlessly pulled it off. Rufus was fantastic! From the first meeting with him to the very last song at our wedding, he listened to our preferences and worked carefully to make sure was just right. He followed up with us as we made changes to confirm exactly how everything will flow. So many of our guests came up to us during the wedding and even more sent texts in the days following about how great the music and energy was. Our DJ, Rufus Cathey, was excellent in every way. He had great ideas for songs and ways we could arrange the processional, and he attended to every detail we gave him. He was right in tune with our musical tastes, and he was able to fill in the gaps with quite a few songs that fit right in. Based on just a few song suggestions, he played what some guests said was the best dinner mix they’d ever heard at a wedding. He got just as involved in the festivities as we wanted him to, which meant getting right down on the floor and leading everyone in the “Cha-Cha Slide.” And when the Chicago Blackhawks won that night, he announced the news and stirred the floor with an impromptu “Chelsea Dagger.” The best wedding DJ we’ve ever heard at anyone’s wedding!

We had a great experience with Sounds Abound for our wedding with Rufus as our DJ. The dance floor was packed all night! The Sounds Abound planning tool was very helpful in thinking through the event and picking songs. We were able to plan our entire wedding with Rufus over the phone/email, which was very convenient as we live and work downtown, and had a very short engagement. He was very thorough in the planning process – we talked through every part of the day, rehearsed name pronunciation, and tracked down some obscure songs we wanted. Rufus played songs that reflected our requests and personalities, and knew how to respond to the crowd to keep the party going. He was pleasant to work with and was one of the reasons the night was so fun!

We had the best time with sounds abound!! Rufus was a fantastic DJ. I heard multiple times from our guests that they had never been to a wedding with such good dance music. Thanks to Rufus we had an amazing wedding! The entire time the dance floor was full from the beginning to the end. He was very good at only listening to me or my wife and not playing what my drunken friends were trying to request. Our DJ Rufus, was fantastic. He came prepared and on time. He set up quickly and began to play music just as the guests were starting to arrive. Our DJ played the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary songs. He took requests. He also took great cue’s from the audience and played music that they liked.

This place was great to work with! The services they offer and the time they give was just what I was looking for…. also their pricing was great! I was able to do DJ, uplighting and photobooth all at one place… so much easier on a bride planning! We had Rufus and he was THE BEST! He really took charge on the day of the wedding and led the night off to the right start. We loved working with him and people commented about him all night how wonderful he was!! I wish we could do the night all over again!

I absolutely LOVED the music and the DJs. They were great about taking requests, but also gently letting down guests who requested songs that weren’t approved. I think the thing I appreciated the most was that Rufus looked like he was having as much fun as we were. I think it really made everyone feel comfortable because he was setting a great tone on the dance floor. I really can’t say enough how great things were. Our DJ (Rufus) from Sounds Abound arrived early, completely prepared, and led us through an amazing night! He put us at ease with his friendliness and professionalism. He paced speeches appropriately, anticipated and addressed hurdles we wouldn’t have thought of, served as a middle man between us and our catering service, and kept the dance floor going all night. I wanted to thank you guys for an excellent ceremony and reception! Our DJ Rufus did an exceptional job and shares our love of music and it showed in his and our selections! We had an unforeseen circumstance that caused a delay in our ceremony but we were able to accomodate our guests by moving cocktail hour up and having music available in 2 locations at the same time. Our DJ was well prepared and equipped to handle this unexpected schedule change with no disruption to the overall ceremony and reception. Thanks so much again!!

We are so happy we went with Sounds Abound, everyone that worked there was so friendly and helpful. The online planner is a great tool to help brides/grooms in picking music for their event! We also loved that we got to pick our own MC! At first I thought ‘how do you pick a MC?’ but after watching the little videos that each MC has, it was fun to pick one!
