Steve's Bio
Music has been a central part of my life since I was very young, being my family’s DJ every morning when I was growing up. I officially started DJing and MCing events when I was 12, building a DJ company in eastern Wisconsin that played school events, car shows, and weddings. After graduating high school, I continued to DJ and MC while attending college, working for Ashland, WI’s WJJH 96.7 FM as their morning radio personality and station meteorologist as well as DJ for WJJH’s Music Machine DJ Service. After graduating college and moving to Kansas, I joined one of the state’s most-respected and largest DJ companies, Advanced DJ Service. I was given the opportunity to combine my love of music and weather on a daily basis, becoming known throughout Kansas on the radio air waves and at weddings, school dances, and corporate events as “Stormin’ Steve”. My weather career brought me to Chicago 5 years later, and my DJ passion brought me to the Sounds Abound family.
My philosophy has remained the same since I was a young DJ and MC – to make your event uniquely yours, completely stress-free, and lots of fun! My full dedication to your special event combined with my vast musical knowledge and experience with audio and lighting equipment, event coordination, public speaking, and on-the-fly flexibility will make for an event that you and your guests will be talking about for years to come!

Pure Entertainment and so Authentic!
We celebrated our big day and are so grateful we had the support and entertainment of Sounds Abound! DJ Steve and Tony Ho were there to help capture our best moments with sound and music provided during what turned out to be a rather funny ceremony, our first dance, all the way to the last dance. It was pure entertainment and so authentic. DJ Steve was amazing and took time to meet with us well over an hour two weeks prior to our event and texted with us along the way to make sure the day went off without any hiccups. He offered great solutions and support to the growing timeline. We also appreciated the site used by Sounds Abound as it has a software built in that made planning your whole day of music so simple and organized. Everyone enjoyed the music, the lights and felt like we had known Sounds Abound well in advance of our big day. They really went above and beyond to make it a special day and a packed dance floor. Fun & Energetic Voice!
We hired Steve from Sounds Abound from our wedding off of a recommendation and it was the best decision! Steve kept the dance floor alive! There was never a dull moment. We absolutely loved having Steve DJ our wedding. He was so wonderful to work with and kept our dance floor going all night!! Sound was perfect and he did great uplighting as well! Personality Lit Up the Space
Steve Drews was our DJ and he was absolutely amazing! He met with us in person prior to the wedding to get to know Jeff and I and learned more about what we were looking for. The entire evening he was on point! He kept the crowd on the dance floor from start to finish! It was so amazing to see how music really made people come alive! His personality lit up the space. Packed Dance Floor the Entire Night
Our wedding ended up being AMAZING – Steve did such a fantastic job; our dance floor was completely packed the entire night. To the point where the last hour or so people were dancing around the dance floor because it was so full. We got so many compliments on how great the music was. We cannot thank him enough for making himself available to us!!
Steve was WONDERFUL!
Eveything was great from helping us pick out songs and Steve was wonderful! Everyone had a blast and commented on how nice our DJ was and the great selection of songs. Kept the guests dancing! We had a few requests for songs not normally played at weddings, but Steve fit them into the night perfectly! People are still talking about how much fun they had at our wedding.
